Police identify 12 black spots
Mysuru: Superintendent of police Seema Latkar on Friday directed police and school management to ensure safety of school and college students while crossing the road and while entering and exiting from their educational institutions.
Speaking after presiding over a road safety meeting held at the SP’s office, she asked school managements to send out school students class-wise to prevent traffic snarls on the roads.
As the police department identified 29 black spots on all state and National Highways besides 12 black spots in urban limits of the district, she wanted the National Highway Authority of India to take all preventive and precautionary steps to avoid road accidents in such spots. “If more than three accidents occur at the same place, it will be identified as a black spot by the police,” she said.
She also instructed the regional transport authority officials to stop over speeding of state-run buses as the has department received a lot of such complaints against them from the public.
Executive engineer of Public Works Department D Raju, DDPI Ramachandraraje Urs, KSRTC regional officer Hemanthkumar, assistant director of tourism Raghavendra, deputy director of pre-university education Nagamallesh and others were present at the meeting.
