Navi Mumbai man gets 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment for rape of 3-year-old in 2018

THANE: Thane sessions court has convicted and sentenced a 35-year-old man from Navi Mumbai to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a three-year-old girl in 2018.
Prosecutor Vijay Munde informed that the special judge AN Sirsikar in his judgement convicted Mohammad Gulzar Mohammad Ismail Khan, and also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 after finding him guilty of the charges under IPC section 376, and various sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Munde told the court that the girl then aged-three and the accused were neighbours at Turbhe area of Navi Mumbai and knew each other very well.
Munde further added that it was on May 17, 2018, when the accused asked the girl to get him water, and when she went inside the house he followed her and raped her.
The accused also threatened her to not tell anyone about this. The girl later narrated the entire episode to her parents after which her family approached the police and registered a case against him. Munde said, “During the trail, the prosecution examined as many as 11 witnesses in the case to prove the charges that nailed the accused in the court.” In his order, the judge noted that the prosecution has proved all the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubts.
While API Chetana Choudhary and API Rajesh Thorat carried out the probe, PSI Shivaji Kavare assisted them in proving the charges .
