Mysuru: Following large-scale complaints that the city outskirts, especially both sides of the Outer Ring Road and areas under the newly notified urban local bodies have become garbage dumpyards, authorities have decided to carry out a four-day Swachh Abhiyan from Monday. A decision in this regard was taken at a review meeting chaired by MP Pratap Simha, which was attended by mayor M Shivakumar, MCC commissioner G Lakshmikantha Reddy. The drive will be carried out by MCC and other urban local bodies. It was also decided to find a permanent solution to the garbage problem faced by the residents in the city outskirts. Recently the ORR area was cleared of garbage. However, now again garbage has been dumped as miscreants are using the open space to dump wastein the night, he said. Mayor Shivakumar said that MCC is ready to pay Rs 60 lakh to the NHAI to fill the trenches made for laying of the streetlights around the ring road.
‘Increase voter turnout in urban areas’Mysuru: Mysuru regional commissioner CG Prakash on Thursday urged the district administration officials to make efforts to increase polling to cent percent in urban areas as voter turnout in urban pockets is less when compared to rural areas. He spoke after inaugurating Mysuru divisional level resource persons training camp organised as part of systematic voters education and electoral participation drive (SVEEP) undertaken by district administration, district SVEEP committee and election commission at the Administrative Training Institute. He said that officials part of the drive have a greater responsibility to spread awareness among people about the importance of voting rights without any fear. This is one of the main reasons for the increase of voter turnout in every election from recent years, he said.
Rangsons inks MoU with German co.
Mysuru: The city-based Rangsons Aerospace, an aerospace product technology company and Germany-based HENSOLDT, the sensor solution house, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly support newer technological advancements and help improve technological expertise in the domain. The MoU, which was inked at the Aero Show 2023, was signed between Pavan Ranga, MD, Rangsons Aerospace, and Jonathan Field, VP International Business Development, HENSOLDT. Pavan Ranga said they are excited to embark on the new journey with HENSOLDT. “The support form the German company will guide us in manufacturing world-class aviation products in India and the technical knowledge will inspire us to create some equipment for aircraft in India,” he added.
MM Hills Temple earns Rs 2.7 crore
Mysuru: The Male Mahadeshwara Hills Temple in Chamarajanagar district has earned a revenue of over Rs 2.7 crore during the Mahashivratri Jatra. The festival was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety at the temple since February 17. According to Male Mahadeshwara Hills Temple Development Authority, over 10 lakh devotees from various parts of the state and from Tamil Nadu visited the temple during the five-day festival.
Will contest from Arsikere: Ashok
Hassan: Former ZP member and JD(S) leader Banavara Ashok said he will be fielded by the party from Arsikere assembly constituency. Ashok told reporters in Arsikere that party leaders have assured him the ticket and that they have directed him to campaign. Meanwhile, sitting JD(S) MLA KM Shivalingegowda has maintained distance from the party and may quit the party.
