Ranchi: Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto on Friday directed the department heads to ensure that the assurances given by ministers of various departments during the sessions is executed well within time. Chairing a meeting of the bureaucrats ahead of the forthcoming
budget session, Mahto expressed concern about the pending assurances.
As many as 323 assurances given by ministers during previous sessions are still pending, taking a note of which Speaker asked the babus to consult the ministers for guidance and dispose of the pending assurances.
He also sought the attention of the department heads towards timely furnishing of replies to questions raised by the members. “We have the system of tabling action taken report (ATR) during beginning of every session in which members are apprised of the status of action taken on the issues raised by them during previous session and there is yet another standing committee to deal with such questions that were submitted by the members but could not be discussed during the question hour. As many as 512 issues are pending which are yet to be answered by the department,” he said.
Representing the departments, chief secretary Sukhdev Singh assured prompt action on behalf of the government.
