KANPUR: Hearing into the Jajmau arson case, in which Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki, his brother Rizwan Solanki have been accused of setting a woman’s house ablaze, will begin in fast track court from Friday.
Notably, with an intention to grab the plot of one Nazir Fatima, Irfan Solanki, Rizwan and others had reportedly set Fatima’s hut located in Jajmau area ablaze on November 7, 2022. Later, Fatima filed a case against the MLA, his brother and other unknown accused.
The MLA is currently lodged in Maharajganj Jail, while his brother is in Kanpur jail.
Police had invoked Gangster Act against the MLA and his four other aides.
At present, the police are confiscating the properties of the MLA and his associates under Gangster Act.
So far properties worth Rs 28 crore have been attached.
Joint Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said that an appeal was made to the government for hearing of the Jajmau arson case in the fast track court.
The consent had already been obtained from the government. “Now hearing into the same case will start in the fast track court from Feb 24 after listing of the cases filed against the MLA and his aides,” said JCP.
On November 7, 2022, a case of attempt to grab the plot and arson was also registered against Irfan Solanki on the complaint of Jajmau Defence Colony resident Nazir Fatima.
