MANDYA: In a shocking development, mutilated body parts of an unidentified man were recovered from five different places near a canal under Keragodu police station limits in Mandya taluk on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the lower part of the body was dismembered into five pieces and had been dumped at various places near the canal on the outskirts of Hodaghatta village in Mandya taluk.
Some villagers spotted these body parts floating in the canal and alerted the police. During the search that followed, the police found three more body parts.
The police sources said they also found a tattoo with the name of ‘Kavya Raghu’ on the right hand and ‘Vanja’ on the left hand of the deceased. from primary investigation, cops suspect that the man may have been aged around 35 to 40 years.
As the body parts were decomposed, cops suspect that the victim may have been murdered a few days ago. They have collected viscera samples and sent them for forensic examination to the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS).
Mandya SP N Yatish, who confirmed that they recovered body parts from five different places, said that the search for the remains of the victim was underway.
It may be recalled that the body parts of two women were recovered from Srirangapatna and Pandavapura taluk, around six months ago. The police had arrested the accused in the murder case.
