VC fund, skills corpus as Haryana government looks to boost employability

GURGAON: With no new taxes and emphasis on skilling 2 lakh youths and employment generation, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said in his budget speech the government has made a separate budgetary provision of Rs 250 crore for skill training in 2023-24.
“Under the Haryana Skill Development Mission, the government will provide skill training to 2 lakh unemployed youths through specialised courses,” he said.
In fact, under the skill development programme, the CM said that the government plans to create a pool of at least 5,000 youths ready in new-age technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, data analytics & programming, and electric vehicle manufacturing. This training will be provided at the Skill Centre for Emerging Technologies set up in Shri Vishwakarma Skill University.
The CM also announced setting up of a venture capital fund, in collaboration with banks and financial institutions, for assisting young entrepreneurs. “Incubation centres will be set up to encourage youth to set up startups; it is also proposed to set up Venture Capital Fund in collaboration with banks and financial institutions. Rs 200 crore venture capital fund to be created to help young entrepreneurs aspiring to launch projects costing up to Rs 5 crore,” he said.
