LIVE: High Drama in MCD House As BJP, AAP Members Slap, Drag Each Other; Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi 'Attacked', Property Damaged

The MCD House has not been adjourned officially. The Mayor is not available in her chair currently and can come back anytime. Proceedings will resume if she comes back. AAP councillors are sitting inside the House while BJP councillors are not present.

“Someone from AAP hit me with a sharp object,” said BJP member Meenakshi Sharma, as per ANI. “They also touched my neck. It was done by a male Councillor. They haven’t allowed a single House to sustain. Don’t know if she’s (Shelly Oberoi) Delhi’s Mayor or AAP’s. She acts on orders by Kejriwal and other masters,” she added.

BJP MLA Vijender Gupta addressed reporters and said that they demanded a CBI inquiry into the violence.

“We have not seen this in history of MCD proceedings because AAP was not in the House before,” said BJP MLA Vijender Gupta in a press conference.

“Election results are being tampered, wrong announcements being made and they’re indulging in fistfights. Several of our Councillors were injured. FIR is being lodged. The manner in which they’ve been beaten up, AAP has shown that they are a party of goons,” said BJP’s Vijender Gupta.

BJP and AAP members resorted to physical violence after the BJP protested the Mayor’s announcement declaring a vote invalid.

Sharing a video, Delhi BJP on Twitter claimed that the physical clash in the MCD House was started at the behest of AAP’s Atishi Marlena.

AAP Councillor, Ashok Kumar Maanu earlier collapsed at Delhi Civic Centre appears after physical clashes broke out.

Councillors resorted to violence in the MCD House, and started landing blows and slaps on each other.

“The Mayor has been attacked by BJP councillors,” AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a tweet.

Following a physical clash that broke out in the MCD House between AAP and BJP members, one councillor has reportedly fallen unconscious.

High drama ensues in the MCD House yet again. This time, councillors have started slapping and hitting each other. Ballot papers have been snatched and a woman councillor was reportedly dragged in the violence.

After the Mayor announced one vote as invalid, BJP councillors protested by raising slogans and standing on tables. AAP councillors countered with protests of their own. The Mayor then announced a recounting.

On a vote being declared invalid by Mayor Shelly Oberoi, former Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat said, “We won’t accept this invalid vote decision. We have options available. We will go to court if they will not follow rules.”

Councillors raised slogans and entered the well after Mayor Shelly Oberoi declared one vote invalid. Marshals have reportedly been called.

As the counting of votes wraps up for the MCD standing committee, Mayor Shelly Oberoi announced one vote as invalid.

Even as counting is underway, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that five BJP councillors voted in support of AAP. In a tweet in Hindi, he said, “Aam Aadmi Party had 134 corporators, one went to BJP this morning. But today AAP has got 138 votes. Meaning 5 councillors of BJP voted in support of Aam Aadmi Party.”
