BAREILLY: Days after several bovines were run over by a speeding express train in
UP's Sambhal, in a similar incident in the district, four cows were killed on the railway track in Dhanari area on Wednesday evening.
The loco pilot of Link Express (14113) informed the railway control room about the incident and the track was cleared by the staff. After getting the information about the incident, local residents, cow vigilante and administrative officials led by Sub Divisional magistrate Sandeep Kumar rushed to the spot. The dead bovines were later buried in the ground using JCB.
After observing a rise in such cases, DM Sambhal, Manish Bansal, has directed all the gram panchayats of the area to constitute a "monitoring committee" in every village next to railway tracks.
The DM told TOI: "These committees will keep a tab on cattle roaming freely near railway tracks and make sure those are sent to cow shelters. The railway track where the recent incident was reported is near the busy national highway and the herd probably moved towards the track due to vehicular traffic." Notably, 11 bovines were killed in a similar incident reported on February 11.
