Cyber criminals target kin of jail inmates

Ranchi: Cyber criminals have started targeting the relatives of Birsa Munda Central Jail to cheat money. Jail authorities said that the criminals are calling up the relatives of inmates and asking for money for their treatment.
Jail superintendent Hamid Akhtar said wife of one inmate, Dilip Munda, got a call where she was asked to transfer Rs 10,000 for treatment of Munda as, the caller claimed, he has fallen from the roof and was critical.
Akhtar said, “The wife had transferred a part of amount before the fraud was detected. We will register a case.”
Relative of another inmate also received similar call in the past, sources said. TNN
