Two labourer's buried alive in cave-in incident at construction site in Thane
The two were declared brought dead at the hospital.
THANE: Two labourers died while another was seriously injured in a cave-in incident at a construction site in Naupada area of Thane.
The deceased have been identified as Habib Babu Shaikh (42) and Ranjit Saini (35). Both are resident of Mumbra. Nirmal Rab (49), also a Mumbra resident, was injured in the incident.
Avinash Sawant, the chief of Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) informed that the incident occurred at around 6.15pm at an under construction site near Swad hotel in the B-cabin area. “The site is owned by developer named Suyog Malusare and the excavation work was in progress at the 500 sq metre site. The pile of soil caved in thus burying the three labourers.”
Soon, the onlookers informed the RDMC. All three were rescued from the spot and rushed to the Thane civil hospital where two were declared brought dead while one admitted for treatment.
The Naupada police have for now registered a case of accidental death.
