Two arrested for swindling 62L

Coimbatore: The economic offences wing (EOW) police, Coimbatore, on Thursday arrested a secretary and a writer of a co-operative house building society at RS Puram for swindling funds to the tune of 61.58 lakh.
Secretary (incharge) Meenachennammal and writer Sundaravadivelu of Sakthi Co-operative house building society at RS Puram were arrested based on a complaint lodged by K Arthanareeswaran, deputy registrar (housing), Coimbatore zone, with Arun, deputy superintendent of police, EOW, Coimbatore, last month.
Police said Sundaravadivelu retired in 2015 and rejoined as an accountant in the same society on a contract basis in 2018. An audit was conducted in 2021. Officials learned that Meenachennammal and Sundaravadivelu had swindled 61.58 lakh from the society fund in 2015-2021 period. tnn
