Kanpur: The body of a 15-year-old girl, who went missing from her home on Wednesday night, was found lying at some distance from her house, in Safipur Kotwali police station area of Unnao district on Thursday.
Prakash Vimal, a resident of Pariyar in Safipur area, works in the Gulf. As usual, his 15-year-old daughter went to her room after having dinner at around 9pm on Wednesday night. But at around 2am, she was found missing from her room under mysterious circumstances. Despite frantic search, her whereabouts could not be ascertained.
Later, at around 3 am, her badly mutilated body was found lying at a distance of nearly 700 metres from the house near Pariyar crossing.
On the apprehension that the girl was fatally knocked down by some vehicle, the outpost police tried to identify the body with the help of locals, but in vain. Subsequently, the body was shifted for autopsy.
On Thursday morning, when the family members came to know about the girl’s death and that the body was sent for post-mortem without any information, they assembled at the Pariyar crossing and blocked the road. They staged a massive demonstration demanding strict action against those responsible for the girl’s death.
Senior officials including additional superintendent of police Shashishekhar Singh rushed to the site and pacified the protesters including the girl’s family members assuring them of prompt investigation and subsequent action into the case.
The ASP further said that a case against four unidentified persons has been registered on the complaint of the family members. “Inspector-in-charge Kotwali Pawan Kumar has been made the investigating officer. Investigations are continuing. Further action will be taken on the basis of autopsy report and other necessary findings,” said the ASP further.
