New Noida office set to be ready by January 2024
Deadline for Noida Authority’s new multi-storey office extended
NOIDA: The new deadline to complete the construction of the Noida Authority multi-storey office in Sector 96 has now been set for January 2024. After blacklisting the original contractor in May last year, the work was given to a new company in October 2022 at 8.8% extra cost. So far, 62% of the building’s construction has been completed.
Launched in 2016, the Noida Authority office was supposed to be ready in 2019. Under the project, two towers — one with 18 floors and another with nine floors— were pegged to be constructed at Rs 478 crore.
Seven years on, not only the project cost has changed but also the number of floors has been reduced. The revised budget of the project now stands at Rs 303.92 crore. The number of floors in the first tower has been reduced to four floors, while only eight floors will be built in the second tower. Two towers are being built on 24,000 sqm land.
Once ready, offices spread across the city will come under one roof. Apart from the main administrative office in Sector 6, offices located in Sector 5, Sector 19, Sector 20 and Sector 39 will be shifted here.
Officials said Mumbai-based Pratibha Industries Limited was selected to construct the new authority building in three years in 2016. Since 2019, the company was given four extensions, besides several show-cause notices.
Altogether, penalties to the tune of Rs 66.34 lakh were also imposed on the contractor. The last deadline assigned by the authority was December 2021. A show-cause notice was issued to the contractor on March 8, 2022. Finally, the company was blacklisted on May 27, 2022, they added.
