You don’t need to know anything about Formula 1 racing to be drawn into this documentary series that explores the drivers, teams, and season-to-season drama of the world’s most popular racing sport. Each season of the series takes a deep dive into the prior year’s Formula 1 World Championship competition, profiling the colorful drivers, team principals (basically, the coach of the team), team dynamics, and racing drama that makes Formula One so exciting. The first season of Drive to Survive covered the 2018 racing season, and subsequent seasons explored the rise — and fall — of various racers, how the league was affected by a global pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the delicate balance between camaraderie and competition that fuels the sport. The recently released fifth season brings fans up to speed with the events from the 2022 season.

Come for the flurry of F-bombs and clever dialogue, but stay for the terrifying “butt-monsters” and other, even weirder threats to reality as we know it.
