AMARAVATI: Former Andhra Pradesh BJP chief and former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana joined Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the presence of party supremo Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati on Thursday.
Scores of his followers and former BJP leaders have also joined the TDP.
Welcoming Kanna Lakshminarayana into the party, Chandrababu Naidu lauded Kanna for his commitment towards people and development of the state.
“In fact, I too had made a vain bid to defeat Kanna Lakshminarayana when TDP was in power. He proved us wrong as he had the popular support in the constituency,” said Naidu.
He said that Kanna always maintained decency and decorum. He said that public leaders should maintain ethics and follow principles to win over the people. Unfortunately, the present regime in the state headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had ruined all the basic tenets of public life, criticized Naidu.
“It is high time that people in the state too should think in the lines of Kanna to save the state from the clutches of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. CBI report about the involvement of Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy in the murder of Vivekananda Reddy had further exposed the character of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party leaders,” alleged Naidu.
He said that CBI had clearly established the role of MP Avinash Reddy with the help of technology and chief minister owed an answer to the people of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, former minister Kanna Narayanaarayana said that he had joined TDP to protect the state and protect the capital city Amaravati. He said that his fight with Chandrababu Naidu in the past was only ideological but not personal. He said that state badly needed the return of Chandrababu Naidu to give direction and bring development. He said that state was completely ruined under the YSRCP demons rule.
