Silchar woman held for stabbing husband to death

Silchar: A 25-year-old woman, Mampi Begum, was arrested on Tuesday in Silchar for allegedly stabbing her 30-year-old husband to death. The victim, Farmin Uddin Barbhuiya, was an auto-rickshaw driver. The incident occurred in their home in Silchar’s Meherpur area.
A senior police official on Wednesday said the incident took place after the woman’s husband, who was reportedly drunk, slapped her. In response, the woman stabbed him with scissors, causing severe cuts in of his body, which led to his death within hours of the incident.
The police arrested the woman when she took her injured husband to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). tnn
