AURANGABAD: The Parbhani district police on Tuesday registered a case against six teachers caught red-handed while sharing the English subject question paper of the HSC examination through WhatsApp and writing out the answers on plain paper to be supplied to students giving the exam.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Munde Colony, about 100 metres from Mahalingeshwar high school where the exam was being conducted, and nabbed three teachers - Balaji Bulbule, Ganesh Jayatpal and Bhaskar Tirmale.
Superintendent of police Ragasudha R told TOI, "We nabbed the three teachers from the rented house of one of the accused. They were found writing out the answers of the English paper. They were using carbon paper to make multiple copies of the answers. During our probe, we found out about the involvement of three more teachers and arrested them too."
The other three teachers arrested were Kalidas Kulkarni, Ramesh Shinde and Siddharth Sonale. Incidentally, Kulkarni is the deputy chief of the examination centre. The raid was carried out in the limits of the Sonpeth police station, about 200km from here.
Of the six teachers, five work at Mahalingeshwar school while Jayatpal is employed with another school in Sonpeth town,” Ragasudha said.
The verification of the source of the question paper and the names and identities of all the accused was established the same day, following which an FIR was registered around 11.30pm.
Inspector Sunil Rejetwad said, “During the probe, we found that within 15-20 minutes of the exam beginning, Sonale, who was not even on examination duty, came to the centre. Kulkarni gave Sonale’s phone to Shinde, who clicked a picture of the question paper and it was shared among them.”
“The accused were caught solving the question paper and writing out the answers at the house of one of the teachers.”
Following a complaint lodged by the principal of Mahalingeshwar school, the accused have been arrested under different sections of the
Maharashtra prevention of malpractices at university, board and other specified examinations Act, 1982.
