Says Centre diverting attention on Mhadei project

Margao : The  Goa  Forward Party (GFP) chief  Vijai Sardesai on  Thursday  criticised the  chief minister Pramod Sawant for welcoming the union  government decision  on Mhadei to constitute the Progressive  River Authority for Welfare  and Harmony (PRAWAH).

Speaking to this daily, Sardesai said while the chief minister  secretly allows River Mhadei diversion, the centre is diverting the attention of Goans by constituting PRAWAH.   “The centre somehow wanted to favour Karnataka ahead of its assembly election.  The centre does not care for Goa on the Mhadei issue. It is really a shame that chief minister Sawant has welcomed the decision of the centre for constituting PRAWAH which will not benefit the state of Goa”, he added.

It may be recalled that the chief minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai welcomed PRAWAH and said that it (the decision of the centre) will pave the way for implementation of the project of Kalsa Bandura nallah and other water related projects.  Bommai even thanked the prime minister for this decision.

“The chief minister of Goa has failed to convince the centre to withdraw the approval granted to the DPR on Kalsa Bandura nallah which entails the water of River Mhadei.   Sawant cannot show falsehood as truth to the Goans at a time when the top engine at the centre is all set to favour the Karnataka BJP government.
