Kanpur Grand, Spark Club beat County & Athletic Club by 6 and 3 wickets, respectively

KANPUR: Kanpur Grand and Spark Club outplayed County and Nawabganj Athletic Club in low scoring matches by 6 and 3 wickets respectively played at different grounds on Wednesday.
Players banned: Kanpur Cricket Association (KCA) on Wednesday slapped with immediate effect a ban against its 7 players for participating in unaffiliated cricket tournaments. According to Dinesh Katiyar, general manager, the KCA banned players from participating in any championship affiliated to KCA and the KDMA league in the ongoing season. As many as 76 players had been banned by the KCA earlier.
Chess: Vinayak Tripathi of Dr VSEC Kidwai Nagar won the under-10 title of SK Gupta memorial chess championship held at Transport Bhawan here on Sunday. Vinayak won all the five rounds and emerged as invincible. Shivansh Sharma of Sri Ram Education Centre and Advik Maheshwari (VSEC Kidwai Nagar) stood at the second and third place in the group. Vikas Nishad won senior group title defeating top seeded international chess master Deepak Katiyar in progressive points. TNN
