Increase waste recovery stations’ capacity, update info online: MCG chief PC Meena

GURGAON: In a review meeting of the solid waste management of the city, MCG commissioner PC Meena directed the officials to display information on fresh waste being processed every day on the website. The commissioner also asked the officials to augment the capacity of the material recovery facilities (MRFs).
“The capacity of the fresh waste treatment should be increased at the MRFs. There should be an arrangement to process the inert produced at the MRFs at these facilities only. A weekly report should be submitted on the bulk waste generators to ensure that they are complying with the Solid Waste Management (SWM) rules, 2016. A special campaign to issue challans to the BWGs violating the norms will be launched,” said the MCG commissioner in the meeting.
PC Meena also added that the number of vehicles carrying leachate from Bandhwari to sewage treatment plants should be enhanced. The commissioner also directed the officials to expedite the process of legacy waste treatment at Bandhwari.
A new processing unit with a capacity to treat 2,000 tonnes of legacy waste per day has been installed at Bandhwari.
