Kanpur: The Pharma industry has welcomed state government’s focus on research and development, with Rs 20 cr allocation for the same in the
budget announced on Wednesday. Sr Vice President Provincial Industries Association & General Secretary Pharmaceuticals Manufacturer Association Atul Seth said the provision of facilities for research and development is indeed a very positive step for the medicine industry and it would certainly prove to be a boon for the state as well as the country’s future. “If we really want to make our position in the market globally, then we have to strengthen our efforts for R&D. It is a very good sign that the government has stated that it is the priority area for them and announced a pharma research innovation programme through centres of excellence. This would help Pharma companies to take research at the advanced level. Over the last few years, the Pharma sector has been urging the government and finally its demands were met during the announcement of state budget 2023-24 in the Assembly on Wednesday. A day will certainly come when India will be a leading supplier of affordable innovative drugs all over the world,” said Seth. tnn
