BATHINDA: After a week of his close aide was arrested, Punjab Vigilance on Wednesday night arrested AAP MLA Amit Rattan in a case of bribe of Rs 4 lakh. Rattan is MLA from Bathinda Rural assembly constituency.
The name of the MLA had figured even when his aide Rashim Garg was arrested red handed with bribe money of Rs 4 lakh from Bathinda circuit house on the evening of February 16 but then had not taken action against the MLA.
The vigilance in this week was collecting evidence against the elected representative and upon gathering clinching evidence he has been arrested.
Village Ghudda Sarpanch Seema Rani husband Pritpal had complained to the viance that MLA was demanding Rs 5 lakh for releasing the grant of Rs 25 lakh for development works of the village. Rs 50,000 were paid and second installment of Rs 4 lakh wa paid on February 16 when vigilance had laid the trap and arrested Rashim Garg from circuit house where even MLA was present.
The money was recovered from the car of Rashim Garg. Then MLA has denied anything to do with Rashim but vigilance was not satisfied. Now after getting green signal from chief minister, the vigilance has arrested the MLA. He will be produced in Bathinda court.
Vigilance Bureau SSP at Bathinda Harpal Singh confirmed the arrest saying wait for the details.
