LUDHIANA: The delay in the completion of Pakhowal Road railway over bridge (
ROB)is testing the patience of commuters, who now have to cross a service road full of deep potholes. The Pakhowal Road is frequented by thousands of commuters daily as it connects residents living in Pakhowal Road with Ferozepur Road.
According to sources, the work is stalled as the authorities are not giving a clear signal as to whether extend the length of the ROB or to keep it according to the previous design.
The deadline to complete this project is June 2023, but experts claim the project is set to be delayed. Shruti Jain, a commuter, said, "There are deep potholes when one reaches near Hero Bakery Chowk and then on the other side also, patch work is required where commuters come out of the Railway under bridge to reach Model Town from Sarabha Nagar."
She said for the two wheeler riders, it is quite risky as there are chances of accidents. Superintending Engineer Sanjay Kanwar maintained that they are waiting for approval from Stale-Level Technical Committee and after that, the work will start again.
