1 in custody after fatal shooting in west Phoenix
Police were looking for the person who fatally shot a man in west Phoenix on Tuesday morning.
Just before 1 a.m., officers found 18-year-old Jesus Alexander Reyes-Morales in front of a home near 27th Avenue and Melvin Street with gunshot wounds, according to Phoenix police. Reyes-Morales was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to detectives, early information indicated that Reyes-Morales was at a house with an adult female friend. The friend's ex-boyfriend then arrived at the home, where he shot Reyes-Morales during an interaction, police said.
The suspect then fled before officers arrived, Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Melissa Soliz said in a statement, but he has since been found and arrested. Police did not name the man they took into custody.
"He was transported to police headquarters for an interview and will be booked into jail for multiple offenses including murder," Soliz said in an updated statement.
No other information had been released.
