Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

Karma Energy(up 9.87%), Inox wind(up 2.62%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 2.36%), Inox Wind Energy(up 1.77%), Energy Development Company(up 1.63%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 1.23%), GE Power India Limited(up 0.72%), KEC International(up 0.70%) and Hitachi Energy India(up 0.60%) stood among the top gainers.

Adani Transmissions(down 5.00%), Adani Power(down 5.00%), ADANIGREEN(down 5.00%), PIGL(down 4.99%), Jyoti Structures(down 4.96%), Alstom T&D India(down 4.63%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(down 4.31%), Torrent Power(down 4.26%), Voltamp Transformers(down 3.24%) and PTC India(down 2.75%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 272.4 points down at 17554.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 927.74 points at 59744.98.

ITC(up 0.42%), Bajaj Auto(up 0.09%) and Divis Laboratories(up 0.07%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 10.58%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 6.19%), Grasim Industries(down 3.61%), Bajaj Finance(down 2.83%), JSW Steel(down 2.8%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.39%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.37%), Reliance Industries(down 2.27%), HDFC Bank(down 1.96%) and Wipro(down 1.89%) closed in the red.
