Belagavi: Murali S, a civil engineering student of Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT-Bengaluru), has bagged 18 gold medals at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to become the topper for 2022-23.
Vice-chancellor Professor S Vidyashankar, addressing a press conference here on Monday, said Murali has won the highest number of gold medals by any student in the history of VTU. He has one VTU medal and 17 endowment medals.
Murali S is followed by Krithi S, a mechanical engineering student of Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda College of Engineering, Sullai in Dakshin Kannada with 8 medals; Swathi S, electronic and communication of engineering student of ACS College of Engineering, Bengaluru, with 7 medals; Sushmitha SV, an electrical and electronics engineering student of Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, with 7 medals; and Pooja Bhaskar, computer science and engineering student of BNM Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, with 6 medals.
Top five colleges with highest number of ranks:
Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, obtained 28 ranks, 15 in UG and 13 in PG. RNS Institute of Technology got 21 ranks, 6 in UG and 15 in PG. Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davanagere bagged 16 ranks, 10 in UG and 6 in PG. UBDT College of Engineering, Davanagere (Constituent College of VTU, Belagavi) bagged 14 ranks, 3 in UG and 11 in PG. Sir MVIT, Bengaluru obrained 13 ranks, 12 in UG and 1 in PG. The VTU PG Centers obtained total 16 ranks — 1 in Muddenhalli, 9 in Kalburgi, 3 in Belagavi and 3 in Mysuru.
