Solve sewer overflow complaints within 2 hours, says MCG chief

GURGAON: MCG commissioner PC Meena on Monday directed the executive engineers to devise a mechanism so that sewer overflow complaints are reported immediately through the MCG field staff as it happens. The executive engineers were further directed to fix the overflowing of sewers within two hours of reporting the complaint.
“They shall also identify potential areas at their level, where the re-occurrence of sewer overflow is perennial and persistent and shall take appropriate pre-emptive measures to arrest the menace (problem) in the future. They shall further ensure that the attendance of the workforce is marked at a designated place/places (as per requirement) and collect the attendance with an android phone picture mentioning the date, time, and coordinates, and thereafter the workforce moves to their designated area of duties,” read the order.
“I have directed the officials that if the agencies deployed for operations and maintenance of the sewerage system are not addressing the complaints of the residents, then in that case action should be taken against the agency and the officials concerned. I have also directed the additional commissioner and joint commissioners to inspect the manpower and machinery of the agencies responsible for operations and maintenance of the sewerage system in the city. The objective is that the residents should not face any inconvenience,” the MCG chief said.
The executive engineers will also ensure that all works for the operations and maintenance of the sewerage system are monitored by the assistant engineers and junior engineers. The commissioner said that the engineers should check their operations daily and shall maintain a record of such inspections.
