Belagavi: The elections to all seven wards of the Belagavi Contonment Board (BCB) will be held on April 30.
The ministry of defence has issued a notification for the elections to 57 cantonments in the country, including BCB on the same date.
The tenure of the BCB was over two years ago. Since then, the Brigadier of Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) and CEO of the CBC are looking into the day-to-day activities of the board.
Questioning the delay in holding elections, former members of the various boards and cantonments and citizens had approched court.
Now, the defence ministry officials are preparing to hold the elections.
The rolls wre updated in September.
The defence ministry notification says: “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006), the Central Government hereby directs the 30th April, 2023 as the date on which ordinary elections to the Belagavi Cantonment Boards shall be held.”
