After the events of 2016’s Sing, Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) and his friends are once again attempting to put on the greatest show in Redshore City.
To impress entertainment owner Jimmy Crystal (Bobby Cannavale), the crew proposes a show involving Clay Calloway (Bono), a once-famous rock star who became a recluse after his wife’s death. Now, it’s up to Buster and his cast to convince Clay to come out of hiding to headline their show.
The fifth film in Tyler Perry’s MCU (Madea Cinematic Universe) is 2009’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Perry reprises his role as Madea, the famously tough old lady who had plenty of wisdom, and wisecracks, to share. When three children break into her house, instead of turning them into the police, Madea offers to feed them and shelter them. Madea learns about their inadequate living situation; the children live with their grandmother after their mother died.
Madea tracks down their aunt, April (Taraji P. Henson), an alcoholic who works as a nightclub singer at Club Indigo. Madea takes the children to live with April, who wants nothing to do with them. When the children and a Colombian immigrant (Adam Rodriguez) move in with April, it challenges her in ways she never thought were possible.
Jonah Hill and Kenya Barris team up for the cringe comedy, You People. Hill stars as Ezra Cohen, a mid-30s Jewish podcaster who accidentally stumbles into the car of Amira Mohammed (Lauren London), a Black Muslim woman. The pair start to date, which eventually turns into a relationship. Six months later, Ezra plans to propose to Amira. However, their respective families have yet to meet one another.
When Ezra’s parents (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny) finally meet Amira’s parents (played by Nia Long and Eddie Murphy), it’s awkward and uncomfortable as the families clash over culture, societal expectations, and generational differences. It’s a comedic look into the differences between an interracial and interfaith relationship.
In this family-friendly movie, Mrs. and Mr. Primm (Constance Wu and Scoot McNairy) move into a New York City brownstone with their young son Josh (Winslow Fegley). The boy struggles to fit in at school and make new friends. That all changes when Josh meets Lyle (voiced by Shawn Mendes), a singing crocodile who lives in the attic.
The duo becomes instant friends, and Lyle’s singing and personality start to win over Josh’s parents. However, the Primm’s downstairs neighbor, Alistair Grumps (Brett Gelman), is not a fan of Lyle and wants him to be put back in the zoo. The film also stars Javier Bardem as Hector P. Valenti, Lyle’s charming and persuasive owner.
The sharks were after two female cage divers in 47 Meters Down, and now they are on the hunt for four teenage girls in the sequel 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Mia (Sophie Nélisse), Sasha (Corinne Foxx), Alexa (Brianne Tju), and Nicole (Sistine Stallone) take part in a boat tour to see great white sharks.
The girls venture off to a secret lagoon with an entrance to a submerged Mayan City. The girls use scuba gear to tour the city, along with Mia’s father, Grant (John Corbett), and his two assistants. When they reach a sacrificial chamber, one of the girls knocks over a column, causing a chain reaction that attracts a group of deadly great white sharks. With the girls trapped, they must navigate to the surface before they run out of air or get devoured by sharks.
2022 might go down as the year of the Minions. Between Minions: The Rise of Gru and the #GentleMinions trend, you cannot escape the lovable, yellow creatures. The sequel to 2015’s Minions depicts the adventures of a 12-year-old Gru, voiced by Steve Carell, an ambitious child who will one day become one of the world’s top supervillains.
After being denied entry into the infamous supervillain group known as the Vicious 6, Gru teams up with the Minions and the group’s ousted leader, Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin), to steal a prized Zodiac Stone. This is the perfect movie for families with young children.
Two of the most prolific action stars of the last 30 years team up for 2 Guns. Bobby Trench (Denzel Washington) is a DEA Special Agent. Michael “Stig” Stigman (Mark Wahlberg) is a Navy Seal in the Office of Naval Intelligence. Unbeknownst to each other, both are working undercover as criminals.
Both men are trying to bring down drug lord Papi Greco (Edward James Olmos). While working together as criminals, Bobby and Stig have been set up as the mob attempts to kill each man. Both men escape death and later team up to exact revenge on Greco and bring down his entire organization.
If you were to combine the epic sweep of Braveheart, the violence of Gladiator, and the fight scenes of Black Panther into one movie, the result would be The Woman King. Set in the 1800s, General Nanisca (Viola Davis) is the leader of a highly skilled group of female fighters called the Agojie.
The Agojie protect the people in the West African kingdom of Dahomey. The Agojie are preparing to go to war with the rival Oyo Empire, who abducted Dahomean women. The Oyo team up with European slave traders as they prepare to attack Dahomey. The all-out war and jaw-dropping fight scenes make The Woman King a must-see film.
Who said romantic comedies are a thing of the past? Netflix brought in two rom-com experts, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, to star in Aline Brosh McKenna’s (The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses) new film Your Place or Mine. Debbie Dunn (Witherspoon) and Peter Coleman (Kutcher) have been friends for 20 years. When they first met in 2003, the two intimately spent the night with one another. In the present day, Debbie lives as a single mother in Los Angeles with her son teenage son, Jack (Wesley Kimmel), while Peter lives as a bachelor in New York City.
The friends are supposed to spend the week together in New York City because Debbie needs to complete an accounting course at a local college. When Debbie can’t find a babysitter, Peter flies to Los Angeles to watch Jack for a week while Debbie heads to New York to complete her class. As the week goes on, the two friends realize that they may have feelings for one another, even if they are afraid to show it.
