Speculation rife over fate of city mayor

Vadodara: The resignation of Rajkot deputy mayor Dr Darshita Shah has led to speculation regarding the fate of Vadodara mayor Keyur Rokadiya too. Both Shah and Rokadiya were elected as MLAs in the last state elections.
Sources said that Shah had resigned as she had been elected as MLA and the party had asked her to do so. The same yardstick may apply to Rokadiya, and he may be asked to quit the post. However, till Monday evening, there was no clarity regarding the issue. Rokadiya and the BJP city unit president Dr Vijay Shah both said that they were yet to get any intimation regarding the resignation.
Rokadiya has seen meteoric rise in the city’s politics. He was elected as corporator for the first time in 2020 and made the mayor. He was then given the ticket for the Sayajigunj Assembly seat.TNN
