Safari park project may be dropped

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is mulling scrapping the safari park project it had planned in a public-private partnership mode around five years ago. But there had been no progress.
Senior VMC functionaries had visited the safari park site in Ajwa to take stock of the situation there. It had come to light that no major developments had taken place there. In wake of this, the civic body decided to issue a notice to the contractor.
VMC mayor Keyur Rokadiya said that the notice to terminate the contract was issued as there was no development on the site. “The land parcel is also huge and measures around 150 acres. If nothing is happening at the site, we cannot keep the land earmarked for a private agency,” he said. TNN
