Hussain’s tabla wins hearts

Ludhiana: Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain on Monday performed at the ‘Sangeet Sammelan’ organised at Bhaini Sahib — the headquarters of the Namdhari sect — to mark the 207th birth anniversary of Namdhari religious leader Ram Singh. Hussain was welcome by sect head Uday Singh.
Hussain said he had always loved visiting Bhaini Sahib as music was “worshipped” here. He said musicians are loved and honoured here, as they were when Jagjeet Singh was heading the sect. He added the Namdhari sect has played a great role in promoting Indian classical music.
