Guwahati: The Assam Class XII state board examination begun on Monday with English language being the first paper.
More than three lakh students appeared for the
test and most found it easier to answer the questions than the previous years because of the 15 minutes extra time over and above the three-hours. The multiple-choice questions also helped, council insiders said.
Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) officials said no untoward incident was reported from any of the examination centres.
“In every exam centre, there was adequate police security and all the students were checked thoroughly at the entry points. Except for the sensitive examination centres, the use of jammers was minimised this time,” Pankaj Barthakur, controller of examinations, AHSEC, said.
A total of 3,42,869 candidates are registered to appear in the examination from 856 centres from across the state. The AHSEC said this year, the maximum (2.72 lakh) candidates have registered from the Arts stream, followed by 47,485 in Science and 20,907 in Commerce.
