Centre approves modification and relaxation in DDA’s housing regulations

Those having a flat or plot of land in Delhi, measuring less than 67 square metres, are now eligible for the first time to apply for the allotment of newly constructed flats offered by the DDA, as per an official statement.

Owners of smaller flats or plots in Delhi will now be eligible to apply for Delhi Development Authority (DDA) housing schemes. According to the new rules, for the first time, any person having a flat or plot of land in Delhi, measuring less than 67 square metres is eligible to apply for the allotment of newly constructed flats offered by the DDA.

Prior to this modification, DDA regulations did not allow any individual to apply for allotment of DDA flats, if he/ she or family members had any flat or plot irrespective of its area, the DDA said in an official statement.

As per the official statement, the DDA said that the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved ‘modifications/ relaxations’ proposed by the DDA in the Housing Regulations, 1968, issued under Section 57 of the DDA act, 1957. The objective of modifications/ relaxations was to enable general public to purchase DDA flats without much restrictions/ hassles, the statement said.
