New Subaru Crosstrek Is Almost Everything You Hoped - Still Missing An Essential Upgrade
The third-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims will be the hot models for Subaru of America with their complete remodel. They get significant improvements over the second-generation models. But they still need a key upgraded for outdoor enthusiasts. It's one essential feature you want.
The all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited come with the newly re-tuned 2.5-liter Boxer engine with additional power and almost everything active customers want. The engine now delivers a more responsive 182 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque.
The new model is better equipped to carry your gear, cargo, and equipment up the mountain with less effort than the underpowered Base and Premium trim levels 2.0-liter engine. But it still needs a vital cabin upgrade. It's the heated steering wheel upgrade customers asked Subaru for in the previous generation models.
The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid trim was the only trim level with an available heated steering wheel, but Subaru of America has discontinued the plug-in hybrid. You can read the report here.
The next-generation Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims come standard with the all-weather cold climate package with heated front seats, heated windshield with de-icer, and heated exterior mirrors, but no heated steering wheel.
The Crosstrek Sport is the Subaru of America's "go-anywhere" all-weather capable subcompact SUV, and it's the ideal vehicle for cold-weather climates with standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, X-Mode, and dual function X-Mode. In addition, a younger demographic of customers with active lifestyles use it for off-pavement adventures and winter sports.
What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?
For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).
The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225). The Premium trim price increased by +$70, the Sport trim +$1,070, and the top-of-the-lineup Limited +$1,470.
The good news is the Crosstrek Sport, and Limited trims will be built at Subaru's manufacturing plant in Lafayette, Indiana, for the first time. As a result, customers in the U.S. will now have shorter wait times for the two models.
We are still determining why Subaru of America doesn't offer a heated steering wheel in the newly remodeled 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims. The third-generation 2024 Crosstrek is almost everything you hoped for. The heated steering upgrade would have been a welcome addition for customers in cold climates and outdoor enthusiasts who use the vehicle for winter recreation.
