Farmers worried over spurt in cattle deaths
Mandya: A total of 7 cattle, including two Hallikar cows, have died in B Challakere village of Mandya taluk within last 15 days. Farmer families are worried due to this sudden spurt in deaths of cattle. Vets are now suspecting that the cattle may have died due to Lumpy Skin Disease. The dead cattle were reportedly worth lakhs of rupees. They belonged to Puttaswamy of B Salgere village of Mandya taluk in Mandya district. Three cows reportedly died first, followed by two calves. After this, one Hallikar cow died four days ago and another of the same variety died on Saturday. Veterinarians visited the village and reviewed the situation. They have conducted autopsies of carcasses. TNN
