Vadodara: Is the deafening DJ music in your neighbourhood adding to your child’s exam stress? You are not alone. The police control room has been flooded with calls from distressed parents complaining of loud music blaring during the peak study hours of the day, especially in the evening.
Cops are not just stopping the music now but are also filing offences against such DJ owners in the past seven days.
“We have decided to crack down on these loud DJs,” said Shamsher Singh, city police commissioner, adding that the thousands of students appearing for the CBSE exams are being highly disturbed by the loud music. “We have been getting a lot of calls complaining about DJ music from different areas of the city,” he said.
On an average, the police control room has been getting over 20 calls daily related to examinees being disturbed by the loud music. In the past three days, cops have filed nearly a dozen offences against the DJs and have also seized their music systems.
“I have got so many calls from the parents and many have tagged me on my social media account complaining about the music system. Some even made videos and sent them to me. No DJ music system will be allowed in the city after 10 pm and even in the daytime they can’t play it loudly,” Singh told TOI.
Senior police officials said that they had issued several warnings to the DJ music system owners which have fallen literally on their deaf ears and hence, they started taking legal steps.
The police have warned the DJs through social media posts and also urged the parents to call up the police control room if their children are getting disturbed due to blaring music. The police said that the DJ music menace goes up substantially during the wedding seasons, especially between November to February. And, many of the weddings or pre-wedding ceremonies are organised at night.
The police said that the drive against the DJ music will continue in the coming weeks as thousands of students will be preparing for their board exams.
