MANGALURU: A police complaint has been registered in Mangaluru after organisers of an educational workshop allegedly made provocative speeches. Police said complainant Madhav Moolya from Kepu village in Karnataka alleged that TR Naik, the principal of Janata School, along with Rafiq Master Athur and Nusruthul Islam Young Men’s Association, had organised the educational workshop in a hall belonging to a religious organisation in Adyanadka on Saturday at 5.30pm.
Moolya said the organisers made provocative speeches to create a divide in society between communities and hurt the students’ sentiments. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under relevant IPC sections. The organisers, however, said that the workshop was on how to prepare for exams for SSLC and PU students. Sources said that a group of men, reportedly belonging to an organisation, barged into the hall and questioned the purpose of the programme and they reportedly asked Hindu students to leave the venue as the resource person belonged to the Muslim community. Referring to Nusruthul Islam Young Men’s Association, they said that there was no need for them to organise a programme for Hindu students.
