The Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Art and Culture, Govind Gaude, on Monday inaugurated the Lawn Tennis Court at Fatorda in the presence of Margao legislator Digambar Kamat.

Speaking at the inauguration the minister for sports expressed his belief that some sports associations only exist for political reasons, and that politics in sports is hindering the development of sports associations in the state and at the national
level.

He stated that conflicts arise in every federation, and in the process, the fate of the players becomes uncertain. He emphasized that this situation needs to be stopped and that he is serious about improving sports in Goa.

The Margao legislator Kamat praised the Tennis court and said that it will help many tennis players to exhibit their talents. He also urged the sports minister to complete the work of the swimming pool and start its service before the beginning of summer vacation. The chairperson of the MMC, Damodar Shirodkar, was also present at the event.
