AND HARRISON COUNTIES. THE 44TH ANNUAL YMCA BLACK ACHIEVERS AWARDS WAS HELD AT THE GOLD HOUSE TONIGHT. THE NIGHT CELEBRATES THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF GRADUATING SENIORS AND ADULTS, HELPING MENTOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. EVENT ORGANIZERS SAY IT’S ALL ABOUT RECOGNIZING THE EFFORTS THAT ENSURE THE CITY’S YOUTH STAY ON THE RIGHT PATH. WE ARE FAMILY. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR FUTURE. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. AND SO HOW WILL THEY KNOW UNLESS THEY HAVE MENTORS AND OTHER ADULTS OUT THERE GOING TO LIVE LIFE BEFORE THEM TO HELP GUIDE THEM ALONG THE WAY? The 44th annual YMCA Black Achievers Awards was held at the Galt House Hotel Sunday night.The night celebrates the accomplishments of graduating seniors and professional achievers.This year's youth achiever of the year is a dual-enrolled senior at Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Bowling Green."We're a family and we are responsible for our future. We are responsible for the future of our young people and so how will they know unless they have mentors and other adults out there that have lived life before them to help guide them along the way," said DeVonne Sorel, YMCA Greater Louisville.Our very own Shaquille Lord was chosen to represent WLKY at Saturday night's ceremony.
