TONIGHT’S CEREMONY. THE LOUISVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS HONORING SOME OF THEIR OWN TONIGHT. THE DEPARTMENT HELD THEIR 36TH ANNUAL AWARDS AND RETIREMENT BANQUET AT SLUGGER FIELD. THE EVENT RECOGNIZES AND CELEBRATES DIVISION, PERSONNEL AND CITIZENS FOR EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE TO THE DEPARTMENT AND THE COMMUNITY. AND ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE BEING HONORED, CAPTAIN GREGORY WEATHERS. HE RECEIVED A UNIT CITATION AND A BLUE COURT AWARD TONIGHT FOR RESCUING A YOUNG WOMAN FROM A HOUSE FIRE. I DON’T EXPECT TO BE HERE. I JUST TO GO GO TO WORK EVERY DAY AND GO TO THE FIREHOUSE AND JUST DO MY JOB AND IF WE GET AN AWARD, WE GET AN AWARD. NOT SOMETHING WE EXPECT. WE JUST TAKE WHAT THEY GIVE US AND CONTINUE TO DO OUR JOB. AND CONTINUE TO BE BRAVE. AND THEY CERTAINLY ARE BRAVE. 30 MEMBERS IN THE DEPARTMENT WERE ALSO RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR YEARS OF SERVICE AT TONIGHT’S BA

The Louisville Fire Department honored its own Saturday night.The department had its 36th Annual Awards and Retirement Banquet at Slugger Field.The event recognizes and celebrates personnel and citizens for extraordinary service to the Louisville Division of Fire and the community.Captain Gregory Weathers received a unit citation and blue cord award tonight for rescuing a young woman from a house fire."I don't expect to be here. I just go to work everyday. Go to the fire house, do my job, and if we get an award we get an award. It's not something we are expecting. We just take what they can give us, continue doing our job and continue to be brave," said Weathers30 members from the division of fire were also recognized for their years of service at the banquet.
