Emotion, Big 10 status on the line when Indiana basketball, Trayce Jackson-Davis visit Michigan State

No. 15 Indiana basketball prepares for what is sure to be an emotional visit to Michigan State.

The Hoosiers (19-8, 10-6) are coming off a hard-fought 71-68 win over Illinois in which Trayce Jackson-Davis passed IU coach Mike Woodson on the program career scoring list. TJD had 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots, and he got help from Jalen Hood-Schifino (13 points), Miller Kopp (12) and Race Thompson (10). Indiana is 3-5 in Big Ten road games, but is 3-2 in such games since Jan. 19.

The Spartans (16-10, 8-7) lost to rival Michigan last time out. Joey Hauser had 20 points, Malik Hall 14 and Tyson Walker 11. Michigan State is still navigating the aftermath of last week's mass shooting on campus. MSU is 5-2 in conference home games, winning its last 3.

The Hoosiers beat the Spartans 82-69 in Bloomington on Jan. 22. Jackson-Davis had 31 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocked shots, and Trey Galloway and Tamar Bates scored 17 each.
