Get to know Chris Campbell, the Blue Water Area Athlete of the Week

It's been a busy month for Chris Campbell. The Algonac wrestler helped his program clinch its first-ever regional championship on Wednesday.
Four days earlier, he took home some hardware of his own.
Campbell was voted Blue Water Area Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 6-12. The sophomore placed first in the 113-pound weight class of the Division 3, Regional 21 individual district tournament on Feb. 11.
The Times Herald recently caught up with Campbell to learn more about him.
Times Herald: How long have you been wrestling?
Chris Campbell: I started in third grade on Algonac's youth club. And I've been wrestling ever since.
TH: What makes you such a talented wrestler?
Campbell: I would definitely say my coaches helping me improve and my teammates — we're always pushing each other and getting better every day in the wrestling room.
TH: Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Campbell: I have a lot of favorite players, but I'll go with someone from wrestling. I'll say Nick Suriano. He wrestled last year in the NCAA finals and won it at Michigan. And before that he wrestled at Rutgers. He's just an overall fun wrestler to watch.
TH: What do you enjoy doing outside of wrestling?
Campbell: I like snowmobiling, boating and hanging out with friends. All that fun stuff.
TH: What's your favorite part of the season so far?
Campbell: Oh that's easy — the entire team this (past) Wednesday winning team regionals. We're the first ones in Algonac history to go to team states.
