When Does 'Loki' Season 2 Premiere? Here's What We Know After 'Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania' Laid the Groundwork for Tom Hiddleston's MCU Return (SPOILERS)
Warning: This post contains spoilers about both Loki Season 1 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Read at your own discretion!
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is here, kicking off the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a trip to the mysterious Quantum Realm. Some fans might be surprised to learn that the movie, especially it’s mid- and end-credits scenes, laid the groundwork for the upcoming second season of Loki on Disney+.
After watching the movie, you might have some questions about what is on the horizon for the second season of Loki. That starts with a very basic question: When will the show premiere?
We did some digging and are breaking down what we learned about the show after watching Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Here’s your last warning that spoilers are ahead!
In the latest Ant-Man movie, Paul Rudd‘s diminutive hero and his friends and family face off against Jonathan Majors‘ Kang the Conqueror.
Of course, Jonathan is someone that has already been introduced in the MCU. More specifically, we encountered him as He Who Remains in the first season of Loki.
He Who Remains is the creator of the Time Variance Authority. He’s also one of multiple variants of Kang. The version we encounter in the main part of Ant-Man is the Conqueror, and he is ultimately defeated (we did warn you about spoilers).
However, in a mid-credits scene, we encounter several additional versions of Jonathan‘s character.
Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki and Owen Wilson‘s Mobius appear in the end-credits scene, where they encounter what appears to be Victor Timely, played by Jonathan. Victor’s backstory in Marvel’s comic series implies that he might be another version of Kang the Conqueror.
The Loki co-stars identify Jonathan as one to watch, implying that he’ll play a big role in the upcoming season. As does the promise that “Kang Will Return.”
It’s commonly believed that Kang will be the next Big Bad that the heroes face off against throughout the rest of phase five of the MCU and possibly beyond. Thus, it seems likely that he’ll play another role in Loki.
Kevin Feige, who is the president of Marvel Studios, hinted to Disney that Kang is “one of the biggest – if not the biggest – villain” the heroes have yet to encounter.
With all of that said, you are likely wondering when Loki‘s second season will premiere. Although we don’t have a solid date just yet, the show is expected to premiere in the summer of 2023.
Loki is one of six planned series that were initially set for a 2023 release on Disney+. However, it was recently reported that only Loki and one of the other shows are considered “sure bets” to arrive this year. The others are likely to be pushed back. Find out which ones here!
Marvel also announced plans to push back the release of a highly anticipated movie in the MCU.
