A cold start, more dry weather today

Tracking possible cold and snow next week

PORTLAND, Ore — Expect another frosty morning Friday. Most of the metro area will awake to temps at or below freezing Friday. Clouds will be pretty stubborn, and there's a chance of morning showers at the Coast.

There's also a slight chance of a shower north of Portland during the day tomorrow, while areas to the south see some filtered sunshine.  Expect limited sun in Portland with high temperatures in the upper 40s.

The weekend forecast is largely dry, and fairly cloudy, especially Sunday. Highs on Saturday reach the upper 40s, we'll tack on a degree or two on Sunday.

Our next chance of significant rain occurs on Monday, with a storm system sliding southward out of British Columbia.

Tuesday looks like a pretty wet and windy day as colder air makes a strong push south and westward.

That cold air pours into western Oregon and southwest Washington on Tuesday night or Wednesday, setting the stage for possible low elevation snow- a scenario similar to what we just experienced earlier this week.

It's way too early to talk about any snowfall amounts, but it's likely to be quite cold for a couple of days in the wake of that Tuesday/Wednesday system.

The tail end of our 7-day forecast will feature unseasonably cold weather, high temperatures may struggle to get to freezing one or two days later next week before we rebound the following weekend.
