Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 0.24 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 0.18 per cent), Pfizer(up 0.18 per cent) and Sanofi India(up 0.01 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Biocon(down 4.26 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 3.66 per cent), Laurus(down 1.89 per cent), Lupin(down 1.69 per cent) and Granules India(down 1.66 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.18 per cent down at 12154.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 91.65 points at 17944.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 316.94 points at 61002.57.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Brightcom Group were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Manav Infra Projects, Marshall Machines, Bodhi Tree Multimed, Surya Roshni and Mahalaxmi Rub hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Arshiya, Cyber Media Research & Services Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Gr, Ahimsa Industries L and Suumaya Lifestyle hit their fresh 52-week lows.
