Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Heritage Foods(up 1.32%), Godrej Consumer Products(up 1.04%), Emami(up 1.03%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 0.98%), Zydus Wellness(up 0.96%), P & G Hygiene(up 0.80%), Varun Beverages(up 0.67%), Colgate Palmolive(India)(up 0.40%), Prataap Snacks(up 0.33%) and Euro India Fresh Foods(up 0.26%) stood among the top gainers.

Parag Milk(down 5.91%), Future Consumer(down 4.35%), Nestle India(down 3.10%), Nakoda Group(down 2.52%), ADF Foods(down 2.07%), Dangee Dums(down 1.89%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 1.44%), Sheetal Cool Products(down 1.37%), Umang Dairies(down 1.07%) and Marico(down 1.02%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 91.65 points down at 17944.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 316.94 points at 61002.57.

Larsen & Toubro(up 2.21%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.84%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.76%), Asian Paints(up 0.99%), Coal India(up 0.95%), Grasim Industries(up 0.82%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.45%), Reliance Industries(up 0.42%), NTPC(up 0.39%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.25%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 4.11%), Nestle India(down 3.1%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.93%), SBI Life(down 2.08%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.01%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.95%), State Bank of India(down 1.68%), HCL Technologies(down 1.65%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.63%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.61%) closed in the red.
