    This Under-$10 Treat-Dispensing Dog Toy Has Kept My Dog Entertained For Months

    Dog owners, let's have a moment of silence for all the time, energy, and money spent trying to keep our beloved pets happy. Who knew it would be such a challenge to entertain someone who sniffs their own butt? Not me!

    I have purchased so many toys — balls, bones, stuffed animals, etc. Whenever I introduced a new toy to my dog, Pluto, he would be obsessed with it...for just a few minutes. And just like that, all of my time researching and money spent would be in vain. On the rare occasion when I'd actually get a toy he really liked, it wouldn't last long because he would rip it to shreds within a few days, and I'd have to toss it because it became a hazard.

    Although I work from home, I can't always entertain Pluto, and it kind of became a mission to find something, anything that would keep him busy when I was working, cleaning, or cooking. But nothing seemed to be durable or interesting enough to last more than a short time (take a look at this bone that barely lasted a day below).

    As luck would have it, he'd nap when I had the time to play with him and would be wide awake when I actually had something to do (kind of like my human child). It was becoming harder and harder (and very expensive) to find toys for him. One day, we realized all we had left was a stuffed duck he liked to cuddle with (BTW, read our Duckworth dog toy review about this durable stuffed toy). Aside from that, there wasn't a toy left that he really played with or seemed entertained by. So, my family and I made a trip to the pet store again (we were making quite a lot of trips by this time), and we walked up and down the aisles searching for anything that we thought he might enjoy playing with. 

    We looked at various treats, toys, and bones, but everything seemed too similar to toys we had already purchased. And the ones that were different, were pricey. I was nervous about spending a lot of money because most of the toys we bought in the past would barely last a few days.

    As my daughter was looking at a cute leash with a pizza pattern, I found myself in the treat-dispensing toy section. This section was filled with various kinds of toys including the most famous dog toy for treats, the Kong (pictured above). But we already have two of these. And they work great! Except that they require dog treat paste, which is super messy. Then, I came across a cute looking Unicorn treat and squeak toy. TBH, I only picked it up because my daughter is obsessed with unicorns. I showed it to her, but she quickly said she didn't think Pluto liked unicorns (LOL). I almost put it back, but something about it seemed like a good fit, and it was under $10!

    The unicorn toy was probably the cheapest thing in our shopping basket that day, but it's cute and seemed to be very different from other toys I had purchased before.

    This purple, transparent unicorn contains a poop-shaped toy inside that rattles and makes squeaky sounds, and there's an opening around the center to add treats. It's made out of a silicone-type material thats soft enough to chew on, but tough enough to keep its shape. I had a feeling Pluto would like it, and I already had the perfect-sized treats to add to them.

    But, I have had this feeling before and have been completely wrong. So, I wasn't too confident that this toy would answer my prayers.
