Top 11 listed retailers, QSRs opened 12 stores/day in '22

Top 11 listed retailers and quick-service restaurant (QSR) chains opened nearly 4,600 new stores, or about 12 every day, in calendar 2022, up 44% from 2021, as retail outlets saw a jump in footfalls.

These firms - Reliance Retail, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL), D'Mart, Trent, Tata Starbucks, Titan, Jubilant FoodWorks, V Mart, Shoppers Stop, Westlife Foodworld, and Burger King - added 4,583 outlets last year, increasing their combined store network to 28,064 doors, data sourced from their latest investor presentations show.

In 2021, their overall store strength was 23,481.

While companies have accelerated store launches to take advantage of lower rent rates at marquee properties, retailers and mall operators said new store openings could go up even further this year.
